Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the vehicle volume reached around 270,000 vehicles during the peak of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus on 18 March 2026. “As conveyed by the Director of Jasa Marga, the peak homecoming flow is the highest in history at approximately 270,315 vehicles,” said Agus at the Jasa Marga JMTC Building, Jalan Akses Tol Jatiasih, Bekasi, West Java, on Friday. Therefore, Agus said that his side is implementing various traffic engineering measures different from previous years to handle the increased vehicle volume. These traffic engineering measures include the temporary closure of the Mohammed bin Zayed Toll Overpass or MBZ to prevent vehicle build-up and the gradual implementation of contraflow. “Therefore, the quite high peak flow can be managed well, so that when leaving KM 70 (Jakarta-Cikampek Toll) to KM 414 (Kalikangkung, Semarang), it is smooth,” he said. “This will certainly be maintained so that in the future we can manage it in relation to safety,” he added. After the homecoming flow ends, he said that his side is focusing on securing the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah, including managing the return flow and securing tourist objects.
