Traffic Corps Chief Shares Sleepless Nights During Ketupat Operation: Duty is an Honour
“The media only recently learned that the Traffic Corps Chief did not sleep at all during the operation,” said Irjen Agus during a silaturahmi event with the media at the GOR of Jakarta State University in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, on Thursday (7/5/2026).
Irjen Agus considers national duty an honour. He does not mind the lack of holidays or rest.
“So there are no holidays, no rest, because duty is an honour; this is a national task that we must secure,” he stated.
Furthermore, Irjen Agus expressed appreciation from Kapolri Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo for the implementation of the 2025 Ketupat Operation. In front of Jenderal Sigit at the time, Irjen Agus promised that the 2026 Ketupat Operation would be even better.
“I was asked by Pak Kapolri, ‘Pak Kakor, the 2025 year was successful, can it be maintained?’ ‘With permission, Pak Kapolri, I cannot maintain it; what I can do is improve it,’” he said.
Irjen Agus explained that the success factor of the 2026 Ketupat Operation was optimal cross-sector coordination, involving the police, stakeholders, and the media. Despite the 2026 homecoming traffic being the highest in history, traffic conditions could still be managed.
“So, alhamdulillah, in this 2026 Ketupat Operation, we could also reduce the fatality rate of deaths by 31.39 per cent. This is an extraordinary figure. Including reducing the number of accident incidents by 5.31 per cent. This is part of the indicators,” he stated.
