Traffic Corps Chief Invokes Cassava Philosophy, Urges Officers to Uphold Integrity and Serve Sincerely
The Chief of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri), Inspector General Wibowo, has called on all Traffic Corps personnel to uphold the dignity of the National Police by working sincerely to serve the public, in line with the directives of National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. He drew a valuable lesson from the philosophy of the cassava plant.
Inspector General Wibowo made the remarks while presiding over the inauguration and handover ceremony for several principal officials within the Traffic Corps at the NTMC Parade Ground on Monday (6/7/2026).
In his inaugural address, Inspector General Wibowo stressed that job rotation is a strategic step to strengthen the organisation. He asked the new officials to fully commit to safeguarding the institution’s honour and to eliminate sectoral egos by prioritising teamwork.
“Let us carry out our duties sincerely, collaborate, and uphold the dignity of the National Police. No one walks alone; we work together to transform the face of the Traffic Corps for the better,” said Inspector General Wibowo.
Before all Traffic Corps personnel, the former Director of Registration and Identification specifically elaborated on the philosophy of the cassava. For Inspector General Wibowo, the cassava plant represents fundamental values that every police officer must possess in serving the community, namely simplicity, humility, adaptability, and resilience.
“Learn from the cassava. We can learn from the cassava, we can understand the meaning of life’s values, we can learn about simplicity, about humility, about adapting, and we can also learn about resilience,” asserted the two-star general.
Through this analogy, traffic police officers are expected to present themselves as public servants who are flexible in adapting to the dynamics of the times, yet remain sturdy and resilient in facing various challenges in the field.
The solemn handover ceremony marked the changeover of several crucial positions within the Traffic Corps. Based on compiled data, a number of officers were officially inaugurated, including: Brigadier General Komarudin, who officially assumed the mandate as Director of Registration and Identification; Senior Commissioner Turmudi, who officially took up the post of Head of Operations, replacing Senior Commissioner Aries Syahbudin; and Senior Commissioner Budi Santosa, who was officially inaugurated as Head of Planning and Administration.
The series of inauguration proceedings began with the reading of the National Police Chief’s Decree, followed by the taking of the oath of office, the signing of the handover minutes, and the signing of the integrity pact by the newly inaugurated officials.
