Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Traffic Corps (Korlantas), Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, has assured that the National Police have prepared a security framework for Eid al-Fitr prayers in 1447 Hijriah.

He stated that the police are not only securing the mudik traffic flow but also maintaining public security and order (harkamtibmas).

“We have prepared all the security patterns. So, security during Eid prayers, security during takbiran, as well as during religious activities for Eid al-Fitr,” he said at the Command Centre Post KM 29 Cikampek Toll Road, West Java, on Thursday.

He also assured that the Traffic Corps will continue to anticipate traffic conditions during Lebaran.

“Because, looking at the percentage, there is still 51 percent or more than 50 percent (predicted number of vehicles leaving Jakarta, ed.), and we will manage that starting from 19, 20 (March),” he said.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs is scheduled to hold a session to determine 1 Syawal 1447 Hijriah or Eid al-Fitr on 19 March 2026, coinciding with 29 Ramadan 1447 Hijriah, at the H.M. Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, Jakarta.

“The session is based on hisab data and rukyat results that have been verified, as well as through a mechanism that is open to the public,” he said.

He stated that the isbat session will involve various elements, including astronomy experts from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), planetariums, observatories, representatives of Islamic community organisations, and other related agencies.

The isbat session will begin with a seminar on the crescent moon’s position, followed by verification of rukyatul hilal reports from various regions, then the isbat session itself and the official announcement of the determination of 1 Syawal 1447 H by the Minister of Religious Affairs.
