Traffic Corps and West Java Provincial Government Agree to Simplify Annual Tax Payments
JAKARTA – Efforts to enhance public services continue to be pursued by the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police (Korlantas Polri) in collaboration with local governments. One of the latest breakthroughs comes from the synergy with the West Java Provincial Government, which introduces conveniences in the annual motor vehicle tax renewal process. Director of Registration and Identification (Dirregident) of Korlantas Polri, Brigadier General of Police Wibowo, stated that this policy is a response to numerous public complaints, particularly regarding administrative obstacles for vehicles that have changed hands. With this policy, the public no longer needs to search for or borrow the previous owner’s ID card when renewing their annual tax. Previously, this had often been a barrier, especially for buyers of used vehicles who have not yet completed the name transfer process. “In today’s meeting, we must collaborate to provide fast and affordable services for the public. Thus, the annual tax payment renewal is carried out without needing the original owner’s ID,” said Dedi, who is commonly addressed as KDM. He also emphasised that this policy is not merely to increase regional revenue but to provide tangible benefits for the wider community. This policy is expected to create service certainty at Samsat offices, reduce public complaints, and increase compliance with motor vehicle administration. The synergy between Korlantas Polri and the West Java Provincial Government serves as a concrete step in delivering easier, faster services that cater to public needs.
