Traffic congestion in Priok-Cilincing begins to ease
Long traffic congestion occurred from the Tanjung Priok port area to Marunda Cilincing and Cakung Cilincing (Cacing) on Thursday (28/5). The North Jakarta Transportation Agency stated that the congestion is beginning to ease.
“Traffic police from Metro Jakarta North Police District and North Jakarta Transportation Agency officials managed the situation on-site,” said North Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Rudi Saptari Sulesuryana in Jakarta on Thursday (28/5).
He explained that the congestion in Priok to Cilincing was caused by container loading and unloading operations at depots in Cilincing and Marunda. By 6:00 PM WIB, traffic that had been heavily congested began to ease gradually.
North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Unit Chief Kompol Ridha Poetera Aditya stated that the prolonged congestion was due to high traffic volume from container handling operations at Delta Depot in Marunda Cilincing, North Jakarta.
Despite the heavy traffic, he noted that traffic flow remained manageable by the police. By 7:00 PM WIB, traffic from Tanjung Priok Port to Cilincing and Cakung was flowing smoothly.
“Personnel were deployed to manage traffic and prevent congestion,” he added.
Government policy restricting logistics operations for 16 days during the Eid holiday caused the severe traffic jam at Tanjung Priok.

The traffic congestion occurred from Wednesday to Thursday (16-17 April 2025) and is seen as an indicator of major issues within Indonesia’s national logistics system.
Pelindo CEO Arif Suhartono stated that the primary cause of the congestion at Tanjung Priok was increased vehicle numbers.
Yusman, who claimed to have come from Bogor to deliver goods to Tanjung Priok Port, was forced to endure hours of traffic congestion.
