Traffic Chief: National One-Way for Eid Exodus 2026 to Be Lifted Tomorrow

The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the national one-way system for this year’s Eid al-Fitr homecoming traffic will end tomorrow. The policy will also consider traffic conditions on toll roads.

“The plan to close the national one-way homecoming will be evaluated tomorrow (Saturday) morning. If there are indeed no signs of returning traffic, the flow on the toll roads remains light, including low traffic counts, then we will lift and stop the national one-way homecoming. It is likely to be done in the afternoon,” said Inspector General Agus at the HI Roundabout, Jakarta, on Friday (20/3/2026).

Inspector General Agus noted that traffic conditions until Thursday (19/3) night tended to be smooth. Coordination will be carried out with several related parties regarding the closure of this national one-way system.

“Tomorrow we will evaluate and collaborate with stakeholders, including the Minister of Transportation, the President Director of Jasa Marga, and we will report to the National Police Chief. The one-way homecoming traffic may be lifted. The exact time will be announced later,” he explained.

The Traffic Corps Chief explained that the peak homecoming traffic has been surpassed with 270,000 vehicles passing in one day. There was a 4.2 percent increase in the number of vehicles during the peak homecoming compared to last year.

“Secondly, on the toll roads, we know that the peak homecoming traffic was on the 18th and 19th. So, approximately 270,000 vehicles, this year’s peak flow. Compared to last year, there is a 4.26% increase,” he stated.

It is known that the implementation of the national one-way officially took effect on the Trans-Java Toll Road on Wednesday (18/3). The national one-way was applied from Km 70 of the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road to Km 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Road.

The national one-way was enforced starting at 13:30 WIB. The implementation of the national one-way followed the flag-off ceremony by the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi.
