Traffic Chief Convenes Experts and Stakeholders to Finalise Ketupat Operation 2026 Preparations
The Chief of the Indonesian National Police’s Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, convened a meeting with stakeholders and transportation experts to ensure readiness for Operation Ketupat 2026, aimed at securing safe travel during the Islamic celebrations of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.
The meeting was held at the Jasa Raharja office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. In his remarks, Kakorlantas emphasised that homecoming travel (mudik) is not merely about journeys, but fundamentally concerns road safety. As such, the state bears responsibility for guaranteeing the safety of road users travelling along mudik routes.
Kakorlantas relayed a message from National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo centred on the campaign tagline “Safe Homecoming, Happy Family” (Mudik Aman, Keluarga Bahagia). He also introduced a safety campaign song titled “Orderly Homecoming, No Rushing” (Mudik Tertib Ojo Kesusu).
“Operation Ketupat is a humanitarian operation. The state is present not merely to regulate traffic or oversee homebound and return flows, but to preserve the social and spiritual momentum of our people throughout the holy month of Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr,” said Kakorlantas.
The success of Operation Ketupat 2026 depends on synergy and collaboration with stakeholders and the utilisation of technology as a parameter for implementing traffic management strategies.
“The key to Operation Ketupat is safety, alongside collaboration and coordination from all parties. Tonight at Jasa Raharja’s office, numerous transportation experts and academics have provided various inputs to strengthen and supplement the steps and strategies we will implement in the field,” he stated.
Inspector General Agus expressed hopes that the entire Operation Ketupat 2026 would proceed safely in terms of security, public safety, and traffic order.
“Our goal is straightforward: to ensure citizens travelling home can reach their destinations safely and happily. When they return from their homecoming, they should also return safely to their respective places,” he concluded.
The discussion was attended by Jasa Raharja Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Awaluddin, Jasa Raharja Director of Relations and Institutional Affairs Dewi Aryani Suzana, Ministry of Transportation’s Director of Road Traffic Rudi Irawan, and University of Indonesia Transportation Expert Tri Tjahjono.
