The Head of Indonesia’s Traffic Police (Kakorlantas) Irjen Agus Suryonugroho claimed that traffic conditions remained relatively smooth during the early stages of Operation Ketupat ahead of the Eid 2026 holiday exodus.

Agus made the statement during a visit with Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi to the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre (JMTC) in Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Saturday (14 March) in the early morning hours.

According to Agus, based on monitoring results, the current traffic flow remained under control. “Today’s monitoring shows that traffic conditions remain quite manageable. There is indeed an increase, however, Operation Ketupat not only monitors traffic but also maintains security and public order,” Agus said in Bekasi on Saturday (14 March).

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Dudy explained that monitoring results indicated an increase in vehicle numbers, though conditions remained conducive. He predicted that the surge in traffic would occur later that evening. “So far, what we are seeing is running slightly above normal, but relatively smoothly. We will continue to monitor, as we expect a surge will occur today,” Dudy said.

“However, since it is still early, and surges typically occur in the evening after breaking the fast, so far it still appears normal, although there is indeed a slight increase,” he added.

Twenty-eight thousand vehicles depart Jakarta

Jasa Marga recorded an increase in traffic flow on the Mohammed Bin Zayed (MBZ) toll road. A total of 28,000 vehicles have already exited Jakarta via the MBZ route.

Based on traffic data from Jasa Marga on Friday (13 March), a total of 28,040 vehicles had left Jakarta via the MBZ toll on Thursday (12 March). This figure increased by 18.87 per cent compared to normal traffic, which reaches 23,588 vehicles.

Meanwhile, vehicles heading towards Jakarta numbered 24,387 vehicles, representing an increase of 11.71 per cent compared to normal traffic of 21,830 vehicles.

Overall, the volume of vehicles passing on the MBZ toll in both directions reached 52,427 vehicles. This data demonstrates an increase in vehicle mobility on the route as the Eid 2026 holiday exodus period approaches.
