Traffic bumps annoy drivers

JAKARTA: Annoyed by speed bumps residents have placed on the road down to Tanjung Priok port, public minivan drivers staged a strike blocking the road on Monday, Tempointeraktif.com reported.

The drivers parked their vehicles along Jl. Yos Sudarso in front of the North Jakarta municipal offices, causing severe traffic congestion for several hours.

A driver, Agus, said the speed bumps were first made in August.

"Now we have to slow down every 10 meters to go over the bumps," he said.

The Warakas-Tanjung Priok route is about 10 kilometers.

The drivers said they would resume the strike if the administration ignored their request to reduce the number of traffic bumps. -- JP
