Traffic Accidents Claimed to Have Decreased by 6.31 Percent During Eid 2026

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The number of people travelling during the 2026 Eid transportation period from 13 to 29 March 2026 reached 147.55 million individuals. This figure represents a 2.53 percent increase compared to the previous survey, which recorded 143.92 million people. “This collaboration is the key to ensuring that the public can undertake their homecoming and return journeys safely, securely, and smoothly,” said Dudy, quoted from an official release by the Ministry of Transportation on Tuesday (31/3/2026). From a safety perspective, data from the Indonesian National Police shows that the number of traffic accidents during the 2026 Eid transportation period reached 3,517 incidents. This number decreased by 6.31 percent compared to the same period the previous year, which had 3,754 incidents. “I want to reiterate that safety remains the utmost priority in every transportation operation. There must be no compromises in terms of vehicle fitness, infrastructure readiness, or compliance with operational standards,” stated Transport Minister Dudy.
