Traffic Accident Figures During 2026 Eid Exodus Decline
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Traffic accident figures during the Eid al-Fitr exodus and return period in 2026 were recorded as declining compared to the previous year, with the most significant reduction in fatalities.
Based on data from the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) from the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026 and Enhanced Routine Activities (KRYD), the fatality rate shrank by up to 30 per cent.
“From the perspective of traffic safety and order, the number of fatalities decreased by 30 per cent. Then, the number of traffic accidents during Operation Ketupat combined with KRYD fell by around 7 per cent,” said Agus in a press conference evaluating the Eid exodus and return flow in 2026, broadcast online, quoted on Monday (30/3/2026).
According to him, these results are the fruit of various strategic measures, including the implementation of traffic engineering as well as cross-agency synergy during the Eid transportation period.
As traffic conditions gradually returned to normal, the police also ended the one-way traffic engineering.
That policy officially concluded on Monday (30/3) at 00.00 WIB after the vehicle volume to road capacity ratio (V/C ratio) was back under control.
