Traditional Oil Well Explodes in Aceh's Darul Ihsan
A traditional oil well owned by a resident in Gampong Lhok Lemak, Darul Ihsan District, East Aceh Regency, exploded on Sunday. The East Aceh Police stated that five fire engines were deployed to the location to extinguish the flames. The exact cause of the fire resulting from the oil well explosion is not yet known. Officers are still working to extinguish the fire while securing the location. A perimeter has been established to prevent the public from approaching the still-dangerous fire point. Based on gathered information, the fire is suspected to have originated from an explosion in the traditional oil well area. However, the precise cause of the blast remains under investigation. The firefighting effort is facing obstacles because the source of the fire is an oil well that continues to emit flammable material. Officers are persistently trying to control the blaze. The still-raging fire has forced personnel to work cautiously to prevent the flames from spreading to other areas, including a palm oil plantation belonging to residents near the location. Dozens of residents crowded the location from a safe distance to watch the firefighting process. Security forces repeatedly urged the public not to approach in order to anticipate the possibility of subsequent explosions. In addition to extinguishing the fire, officers are also isolating the area around the oil well to prevent the spread of the flames while prioritising the safety of personnel on the ground.
