Traditional markets disappearing?
Traditional markets disappearing?
From Media Indonesia
This era of globalization will see the traditional market gradually disappearing. Traditional markets which are as old as the towns or villages are being replaced by modern establishments. It is clearly noticeable that supermarkets are mushrooming, particularly in large cities, with smaller towns also beginning to welcome their presence. So people believe that, slowly but surely, the traditional markets will disappear.
Rural people feel that they are privileged to shop in a supermarket. This feeling makes them to turn to the supermarket just to buy daily necessity rather going to a traditional market.
The customers seem to have different reasons why they chose to shop in a supermarket. Some say that supermarkets offer more convenience, such being air conditioned and clean, with no haggling being necessary.
In advanced countries, however, traditional markets are being preserved. So obviously traditional markets have become a rarity.
Actually, if traditional markets are taken care of they have the same chance of attracting customers. Traditional markets must be clean and maintain nice and comfortable environments. Therefore the management of traditional markets should pay greater attention to these particular problems. Competitiveness is also a significant factor which attracts customers who want to buy more things but spend less money.
Again this is real challenge to the management of traditional markets.
