Traditional markets

From Prospek

We are witnessing how the traditional markets are struggling to maintain their existence in the era of modern supermarkets, department stores, super stores and the like. Will the traditional markets be driven away?

I strongly believe it is unlikely the traditional markets will be buried because many segments of society -- especially the middle- and low-income brackets -- are still in favor of their existence. In fact, many elite people still enjoy shopping in the traditional markets.

The government should help the traditional markets develop stronger competitive capabilities. Today most people choose to shop in modern markets because of the advantages they get from doing so. Everyday commodities are generally less expensive, the quality is guaranteed and shopping centers often provide corners for children's entertainment, fast-food services, etc.

On the other hand, traditional markets are sometimes notorious for their uncleanliness, pickpockets and other unpleasant factors.

Obviously, the government cannot object to the presence of modern markets. It seems that our society demands their services.
