Traders sell cheap paper to students

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: More than 4,300 reams of office
paper were sold Thursday at a 40 percent discount to university
students.

"It is better to have good relation with them rather than to
be the target of their demonstrations," said Memen, one of the 18
traders who initiated the paper sale.

Paper's skyrocketing prices have severely affected students
and become a potential source of unrest among them.

Purwokerto Police chief Col. Eddi Karnadi praised the traders'
initiative.

"The discounted price is very helpful for the students," said
