The emergence of a so-called ‘Padel Village’ on Jalan Raya Pagedangan in Tangerang Regency, Banten, has livened up the local neighbourhood. Nearby traders say they have seen some benefit from the increased activity.

Young coconut vendor Nurjaman said the atmosphere along Jalan Raya Pagedangan had indeed become busier. He noted that the change had affected his business, albeit not significantly.

“There has been a change, yes, but not a huge one,” Nurjaman told reporters on Tuesday (24/2/2026).

Nurjaman’s stall is located directly opposite two padel courts. However, he said not many padel players had purchased from him so far.

“Sometimes there are, yes. Just occasionally,” he said.

Nurjaman said he was not bothered by the activity at the padel courts. He observed that many local residents had gained new employment thanks to the mushrooming of padel facilities.

“Around here, it’s not really a disturbance. In fact, the residents are quite supportive because people from this area can now get jobs — those who were previously unemployed,” he said.

A juice vendor named Iyeng expressed hope of benefiting from the padel boom. He said his trade had not yet seen significant gains.

“I’d love it if they’d stop by and buy drinks. Hopefully some of that fortune trickles down to us,” he said.

He noted that only a handful of people had bought from him after playing padel. He added that the courts had only started getting busy over the past two months.

Meanwhile, Nikmah, who runs a coffee stall nearby, said her business remained quiet as padel players rarely stopped by — despite the stall being located directly behind one of the courts.

“The atmosphere is lively, quite busy. But my stall is still quiet,” Nikmah said.
