Traders complain over sales drop

JAKARTA: Traders at the Tanah Abang market in Central Jakarta have complained over reduced sales since late last year, when a dispute started with city-owned market operator PD Pasar Jaya.

Syafrudin, one of the traders, said his daily sales had dropped by up to 70 percent compared to prior to the dispute sparked by PD Pasar Jaya's plan to demolish Block B, C, D and E of the market.

He did not provide details of his current turnover.

"We hope the dispute will be settled immediately," Syafrudin was quoted by Beritajakarta.com news portal as saying. --JP
