Traders at Kampung Rambutan Terminal Reap Turnover Exceeding Rp8 Million Per Day During Eid Exodus Period
The bustle of the Eid al-Fitr 2026 homecoming traffic has become a special blessing for traders at Kampung Rambutan Terminal in Jakarta. Amid the surge in passengers, the turnover of traders has risen dramatically, multiplying several times over from normal days.
Jalal, for instance, claimed to have reaped a turnover of more than Rp8 million per day during the homecoming season from selling Nasi Padang. This figure far exceeds his usual daily income of around Rp1 million.
“Since H-5 before Eid, my stall has been continuously busy. Many homecomers stop by to eat before their journey,” said Jalal when met at Kampung Rambutan Terminal on Friday, 20 March 2026.
In addition to Jalal, Rian, another food stall trader, experienced a similar increase. At the peak of the homecoming rush on H-3 and H-2 before Eid, his food stall reaped a net profit of up to Rp4 million in a day.
This figure is about eight times what he earns on normal days. Rian said that on a regular day, his net income is only around Rp500,000.
“This year’s Eid, alhamdulillah, in one day I can make Rp4 million net, selling from 06:00 WIB in the morning until 22:00 WIB,” Rian said cheerfully.
According to Rian, the peak crowding occurred since H-3 before Eid, specifically on Wednesday and Thursday, 18-19 March 2026. “Those two days were really packed. Customers kept coming non-stop,” he said.
Itinerant traders in the terminal area also enjoyed the income surge. Rusdi, one of the beverage and snack sellers, stated that his profits increased by up to 70 percent.
“Usually on normal days (income) is around Rp500,000, during this homecoming period it can reach Rp900,000 a day,” Rusdi explained.
The busyness of the homecoming flow at Kampung Rambutan Terminal not only reflects the high mobility of the community ahead of Eid but also serves as an important momentum for small business actors to increase their income.
The traders hope this positive trend can continue until the return flow later. Meanwhile, the atmosphere of the homecoming at Kampung Rambutan Terminal in Jakarta was observed to be relatively quiet on H-1 Eid 2026, Friday, indicating a significant drop after the peak homecoming rush that occurred a few days earlier.
