Trader Recounts Moments When Homemade Bomb Exploded in Tasikmalaya: 'I Went Into Spasms'

A trader named Resa has recounted the shocking moment a homemade bomb exploded near her stall in the Dadaha sports complex in Tasikmalaya City, West Java, on Saturday night. “I heard it clearly, the bomb exploded right behind me,” said Resa, a seller of cimin (mini aci snacks). The incident occurred on Saturday evening near a streetlight pole on the pavement, precisely on the boundary wall between the Creative Centre building and the Sukapura Sports Hall area. This was the exact spot where Resa was trading, meaning the distance between the explosion and where she was standing was no more than three metres. “I was serving a customer when there was a very loud bang. Both my ears were ringing,” she said. The shock of the explosion caused Resa to stagger and her body to go into spasms. She was immediately assisted by her husband, who was also trading nearby. She was taken to a seating area further away from the blast site and given a massage by her husband. “I had spasms. I don’t know, maybe it was from the sheer shock. My legs also went weak,” Resa said.
