TANGERANG: A number of trade signs in the Lippo Pinangsia office
park in Karawaci, Tangerang, were removed by local authorities on
Wednesday.

The operation against illegal trade signs was led by Tangerang
zoning agency chief Said Hendro Wiyanto.

According to Said, the authorities had no other choice but to
remove the trade signs because their owners had not paid taxes on
them and had ignored the municipality's written warnings.

"We sent two official warnings to them and asked them to pay
the taxes before we finally removed the trade signs and seized
them."

Most of the trade signs belonged to restaurants, amusement
places and department stores. --JP
