Trade Ministry: Indonesian Biotech Products Open Wider Opportunities in Taiwan
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) stated that Indonesian businesses have opened wider opportunities for biotechnology and health products in the Taiwanese market while expanding networks with global industry players.
This was demonstrated by Indonesian health products that successfully attracted the interest of prospective importers from Taiwan, recording potential transactions worth US$2 million, or around Rp34 billion, at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) Asia-Taiwan 2026 exhibition held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, Taiwan, from 16 to 19 July 2026.
“Indonesia is opening up market access and collaboration opportunities while strengthening networks with global industry players. We are optimistic that Indonesian pharmaceutical and health products have the quality and competitiveness to become part of the global pharmaceutical and health industry supply chain,” said Arif Sulistiyo, Head of the Indonesian Trade and Economic Office (KDEI) in Taipei, in a statement issued in Jakarta on Saturday.
According to him, Indonesia’s participation is a strategic step to promote products, introduce the capacity of the national pharmaceutical industry, and strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global health industry supply chain. Indonesia also has growing opportunities to foster collaboration in research, innovation, investment and technology transfer.
The Ministry of Trade, through KDEI Taipei, presented seven Indonesian companies operating in pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical raw materials, health laboratory services and medical devices.
The exhibitors received high appreciation from visitors, particularly for biotechnology-based raw materials, herbal extracts, pharmaceutical products, other natural health products, and health laboratory services.
Arif expressed hope that this success will serve as momentum to strengthen the promotion and competitiveness of national biotechnology and health products in the global market.
“Through synergy between the government and businesses, we are optimistic that Indonesia can continue to expand export market access, increase trade value, and strengthen international cooperation in the bio-industry and health sectors,” said Arif.
