The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) has announced that Indonesia has secured an export contract for 10 tonnes of cloves worth US$78,000, equivalent to Rp1.3 billion, with Saudi Arabia. The purchase was realised through the signing of a Sales Purchase Agreement (SPA) between PT Navva Nusantara Commodities of Indonesia and Al Nafea Foods Co. of Saudi Arabia.

“The signing of the clove purchase contract with Saudi Arabia demonstrates that Indonesia has internationally recognised quality products. We hope this purchase contract signing can further open access for Indonesian products in the global market, particularly the Gulf region,” said Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

The signing of the purchase contract was the result of business matching facilitation by the Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Jeddah in June 2026. ITPC Jeddah remains committed to continuing to assist Indonesian exporters, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), in exploring the Saudi Arabian market and ensuring that Indonesia’s trade with Saudi Arabia remains well maintained.

“We hope that exporters who have gained a market in Saudi Arabia will continue to maintain their quality so that trust in Indonesia is preserved and can open greater opportunities with Saudi Arabian importers despite trade challenges,” said Bagas.

In January–June 2026, Indonesia’s total non-oil and gas trade with Saudi Arabia was recorded at US$1.69 billion. Indonesia’s exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to US$1.02 billion, while Indonesia’s imports from Saudi Arabia stood at US$665.10 million. Indonesia recorded a non-oil and gas trade surplus of US$357.3 million with Saudi Arabia.

Indonesia’s main export products to Saudi Arabia include vehicles and parts thereof, animal or vegetable fats and oils, ships, various processed foods, and wood and articles of wood. Meanwhile, products imported by Indonesia from Saudi Arabia include salt, sulphur, lime; plastics and articles thereof; organic chemicals; various chemical products; and fruits.
