Trade Minister Budi Santoso stated that the Ministerial Regulation (Permendag) concerning natural resource exports is targeted for completion today.

‘Hopefully it will be completed today,’ Budi said at the Ministry of Trade in Jakarta on Monday.

He explained that from 1 June 2026, exports of three strategic commodities — crude palm oil (CPO), coal, and ferroalloy — will be handled by state-owned enterprise PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI). The policy will be phased in over a six-month transition period.

During the first three months, existing exporters will continue operations as usual but report to DSI. ‘For the first three months, we will evaluate the transition; the current exporters will continue their activities, but reports will go to PT DSI,’ he said.

From 1 September to 31 December 2026, exporters ready to transfer their operations to DSI can do so.

He stressed that from 1 January 2027, all exports of these commodities must be conducted by DSI. However, existing export regulations, including the domestic market obligation (DMO) for CPO, remain unchanged. ‘The existing rules, such as export requirements and DMO obligations for CPO and others, will stay in place. The change is only that exports previously handled by private entities will now be managed by PT DSI,’ he added.
