Trade Minister Receives Award for Driving Self-Sufficient Village Economic Transformation
The Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, has received the ‘Figure of Progress Accelerator’ award in the ‘Driver of Independent Village Economic Transformation’ category at the detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026.
The award was presented by CT Corp Chairman Chairul Tanjung and received directly by Budi during the awards ceremony held at The Trans Resort Bali on Friday (3/7/2026).
The accolade serves as appreciation for the Ministry of Trade’s successes in positioning villages as engines of the global economy. Through the ‘Desa BISA Ekspor’ (Village Exportable) programme, hundreds of villages across Indonesia are able to maximise their potential.
The programme focuses on empowering local potential and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to ensure village products can penetrate international markets. The Ministry of Trade has mapped 741 potential villages throughout Indonesia as centres for small and medium industries (SMEs) for this initiative.
To support this, the Ministry provides assistance, product standardisation training, packaging design improvements, food safety systems, and business management strengthening. Subsequently, the Ministry connects village entrepreneurs directly with potential buyers in international markets to facilitate exports, utilising the network of 46 Trade Attachés and Indonesian Trade Promotion Centres (ITPC) across 33 countries.
To maximise the programme’s impact, the Ministry of Trade engages in cross-sector collaboration, synergising with the Ministry of Villages, the Ministry of Agriculture, Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI), and the private sector.
As a result, the ‘Desa BISA Ekspor’ programme has successfully brought local commodities to the global stage. Notable examples include the export of fermented cocoa beans from Jembrana, Bali, to France valued at IDR 2.4 billion, the shipment of milkfish seeds to the Philippines, and the export of horticultural products to Singapore.
