Trade Minister: MSME BISA Ekspor Programme Transactions Reach USD 251 Million in First Half
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Trade Minister Budi Santoso said transactions through the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Brave Innovation, Ready for Export Adaptation (UMKM BISA Ekspor) programme reached 251 million US dollars, or approximately Rp4.49 trillion, throughout the first half of 2026.
The minister noted that around 60-70 per cent of MSMEs facilitated through the programme were business operators who had never previously exported.
“This year, from January to June, transactions have already reached 251 million US dollars. Those are MSMEs, 60-70 per cent of whom have never exported. We facilitate them and never even meet, just online,” Budi said at the Launch of the Local Product Acceleration Programme at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, on Thursday.
The UMKM BISA Ekspor programme is a Ministry of Trade initiative to help business operators gain access to overseas markets.
Budi explained that MSME operators can present their products to Indonesian trade representatives abroad, including Trade Attachés and Indonesian Trade Promotion Centres (ITPC).
These representatives then help find prospective buyers to continue the business matching process.
“Ladies and gentlemen, you simply present to our representatives abroad, to the Trade Attachés and ITPC. Later our representatives, the ITPC, will find buyers. Once a buyer is found, you then present again to the buyer,” the Trade Minister told the MSMEs attending the event.
For comparison, the Ministry of Trade recorded that the UMKM BISA Ekspor programme facilitated 1,217 business operators with a transaction value of 134.87 million US dollars, or approximately Rp2.41 trillion, throughout 2025.
That figure comprised purchase orders of 57.45 million US dollars (approximately Rp1.03 trillion) and potential transactions of 77.42 million US dollars (approximately Rp1.38 trillion).
As such, the transaction figure of 251 million US dollars cited by Budi for January-June 2026 has already surpassed the programme’s recorded achievement for the whole of 2025.
Previously, in July 2026, Budi expressed optimism that the UMKM BISA Ekspor transaction value could reach around 300 million US dollars, or approximately Rp5.36 trillion, over the course of this year.
Export facilitation for MSMEs through the programme is supported by a network of 46 Indonesian trade representatives spread across 33 countries.
Through this network, MSME operators are expected to obtain information about destination markets while also being matched with prospective buyers to open up export transaction opportunities.
Budi also observed that the use of electronic trading platforms can serve as an initial gateway for MSMEs to reach export markets, including through retail transactions with consumers in other countries.
He noted that transactions initially conducted in single-unit quantities have the potential to develop into business-to-business (B2B) transactions if the products purchased attract the interest of importers.
“The buyer could actually be an importer. The importer buys, then realises the product is good, and eventually communication leads to exports,” Budi said.
