Trade Minister Guarantees No Increase in Minyakita Price, Focuses on Expanding Distribution
Minister of Trade Budi Santoso has affirmed that the government is maintaining the highest retail price (HET) for the people’s cooking oil, Minyakita, at Rp 15,700 per litre. According to Budi, the government’s focus is on strengthening the distribution of Minyakita so that it is more easily accessible to the public, particularly through traditional markets.
“As of now, there is no increase in the HET for Minyakita; it remains at Rp 15,700 per litre,” Budi said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday (18/6/2026).
The distribution strengthening is being carried out through state-owned food enterprises, namely Perum Bulog and ID FOOD. He hopes this step will expand the distribution reach while maintaining the availability and affordability of Minyakita prices in various regions.
According to Budi, the government remains committed to maintaining the stability of cooking oil prices while ensuring its distribution runs more smoothly.
“We are currently focusing on the distribution of Minyakita to traditional markets through food SOEs such as Bulog and ID FOOD. We hope Minyakita will become increasingly available in markets,” Budi said.
Budi added that the government will synergise to ensure that the cooking oil needs within the food aid programme can be met using other brands of cooking oil products.
Furthermore, the government is asking producers to increase the production of alternative or second-brand cooking oil to accompany Minyakita. The availability of these second-brand cooking oils can provide the public with more choices of cooking oil at affordable prices.
“We are also asking producers to produce more second-brand cooking oil. Even now, there are already many in traditional markets, not just Minyakita. So, it is already easy to obtain,” Budi added.
