Kudus — Indonesia’s Trade Minister Budi Santoso has assured that stocks of essential commodities in Kudus Regency, Central Java, remain secure with prices remaining under control ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026.

“The government continues to monitor developments in essential commodity prices across various regions, including Kudus, through an integrated national price monitoring system,” he stated following an inspection of prices and the availability of essential commodities at Pasar Baru Wergu Wetan market in Kudus Regency on Thursday.

Present at the inspection were Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, Kudus Regent Sam’ani Intakoris, and Central Java Bulog Regional Leader Sri Muniyati.

He stated that his visit to Wergu Market was to check prices in several regions, one of which is currently Kudus.

However, Budi said the government continues to conduct direct market inspections to ensure commodity availability and actual price conditions on the ground.

Additionally, the government’s presence in the market is also expected to have a psychological impact on traders to prevent them from raising prices excessively.

From the market inspection results, he said, a number of monitored commodities remain in controlled conditions. Beef prices stood at around 140,000 rupiah per kilogram, whilst chicken prices had at times fallen below the maximum retail price (HET), but currently remain slightly above the HET.
