Minister of Trade Budi Santoso has confirmed that the government has not yet decided to raise the highest retail price (HET) for Minyakita cooking oil, which remains at Rp15,700 per litre. He made the statement during a visit to IPB University in Bogor, West Java, on Friday, 12 June 2026, clarifying that rumours of a price hike are unfounded. ‘Until now, there has been no increase in the highest retail price for cooking oil. So, the HET for Minyakita is still Rp15,700 per litre,’ Budi stated. He explained that the government had previously discussed a potential price adjustment, but this cannot be realised until crude palm oil (CPO) prices stabilise and supporting conditions are met. To ensure supply, the government is strengthening distribution through state-owned enterprises in the food sector, such as Bulog and IDFOOD. The Trade Ministry is also encouraging producers to increase output of ‘second brand’ cooking oils to provide consumers with more affordable alternatives and reduce sole dependence on Minyakita. ‘Second brand cooking oils are now widely available in traditional markets, making it easier for the public to access,’ Budi added.
