Trade Minister Confirms Export Rules Will Not Change Despite DSI

Jakarta (ANTARA) — Trade Minister Budi Santoso said export regulations will continue to fall under the authority of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), even though the governance of natural resource export flows through PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI).

“Yes, still the same,” said Budi at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday.

To date, the issuance of export approvals (PE) has been issued by the Ministry of Trade through the INATRADE system and the Indonesia National Single Window System (SINSW).

The PE is issued after being evaluated based on commodity provisions, commodity balance, technical recommendations and applicable trade regulations. If compliant, the Ministry of Trade issues the PE for use by business actors.

He emphasised that the technical regulations related to the export of natural resource commodities, including crude palm oil (CPO), coal, and ferroalloys, will be prepared through the Trade Minister Regulation (Permendag) to be issued in the near future.

The Government has formed PT DSI as a company with a special mandate to manage and supervise transactions of strategic natural resource commodities.

DSI will operate in two stages. In the first stage, from 1 June to 31 December 2026, DSI will act as evaluator and intermediary between sellers and buyers of certain export commodities.
