Trade Minister Claims No Rise in Cooking Oil Prices
Trade Minister Budi Santoso claims there is currently no upward trend in cooking oil prices. “Right now cooking oil prices are not a problem. When we checked yesterday, Minyakita prices actually fell,” Budi said at Graha Mandiri in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
Budi stated that Minyakita prices currently stand at Rp 15,800 per litre nationally. Trade Ministry data showed Minyakita prices at Rp 15,872 nationally per Friday, 13 March 2026.
Minyakita price movements have recorded a decline since 11 February 2026, when the national average price reached Rp 16,051 per litre. Prices have continued to fall through the second week of March 2026. Despite the decline, Minyakita prices currently remain above the maximum retail price set at Rp 15,700 per litre.
Although Minyakita has experienced a downward price trend, Trade Ministry data records two other types of cooking oil moving with fluctuating, generally upward price movements. Premium packaged palm oil, for example, reached Rp 21,180 per litre on Friday, 13 March 2026, up Rp 5 compared to the previous day.
Price increases have also been recorded for bulk palm oil. The commodity now reaches Rp 18,599 per litre nationally on Friday, 13 March 2026.
Budi said domestic cooking oil prices would not be affected even if crude palm oil (CPO) prices surge. “There have been no increases so far,” Budi said.
