Trade Minister assures price stability and supply of essential goods ahead of Eid al-Fitr
Jakarta — Trade Minister Budi Santoso has assured price stability and supply of essential goods for the Indonesian people ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.
“The government will guarantee price and supply stability of essential goods, especially ahead of Eid,” Mendag Budi said at a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.
The man known as Busan said the Ministry of Trade maintains the Market Monitoring System for Essential Goods (SP2KP), which is actively updated and monitored online.
Based on direct and online monitoring, the minister said that so far prices and stock of essential goods have remained relatively stable.
Through this system, the ministry can communicate with local governments and suppliers to prevent prices and supplies from becoming unstable.
He added that with direct monitoring from the central government, local governments, and online data integration, if there are problems on the ground, solutions can be sought promptly.
In addition, the minister said, direct visits to traditional markets are also an effort to provide certainty to the public regarding the availability of essential goods and that prices do not exceed the highest retail price ceiling (HET).
“And after we looked, prices of goods are pretty good, most are below HET or near HET,” he added.
