JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, has assured that the import of industrial raw materials will not cause problems and will continue to be closely monitored through the surveyor report mechanism.

Budi stated that this requirement is implemented to ensure that the goods entering are genuinely used for industrial needs.

“So, it is ensured that there will be no problems, because before this, there is a surveyor report, and this surveyor report mechanism has been in place,” said Budi at the Ministry of Trade on Thursday (26/2/2026).

Budi explained that the surveyor report is a mandatory document that must be fulfilled before imported goods enter Indonesia. Through this mechanism, the government can ensure that the imported goods comply with their intended use.

Budi added that the government continues to maintain a balance between the needs of industrial raw materials and the protection of domestic industries.

Monitoring through surveyor reports is one of the instruments to ensure that imports are carried out in accordance with the rules and support national production activities.

He affirmed that this mechanism has been in place and is part of the standard procedure in the process of importing industrial raw materials.

With the surveyor report, the government can ensure transparency and accountability in the flow of imported goods entering Indonesia.

The event took place at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce building, Washington DC, United States, on Wednesday (18/2/2026) local time.

One of them is the MoU on Shredded Worn Clothing between the Indonesian Garment and Textile Association, PT Pan Brothers, and Ravel, which was signed by the CEO of PT PAN Brothers, Ludijanto Setijo, and the CEO of Ravel, Zahlen Titcomb.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the import does not mean that the government is allowing Pan Brothers to import used clothing, but rather used clothing that has been shredded.
