Trade expo in Darwin

JAKARTA (JP): West Nusa Tenggara will send a delegation of 20 businesspeople to Australia next week to take part in Darwin Expo, an executive said Saturday.

The chairman of the province's branch of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, M. Anwar, said in Mataram that the delegates would show locally-made handicrafts and agricultural products at the expo, which would last from June 2 to June 28.

Anwar was quoted by Antara as saying that besides joining the expo, the delegates would also take part in a seminar and dialogue with their Australian counterparts to promote investment in West Nusa Tenggara.

He said 100 foreign investors currently operated in the province with investments of Rp 1.65 trillion (US$675.40 million) under a domestic investment scheme and $1.4 billion under a foreign investment scheme. Forty percent of the investments went to the tourism industry, 20 percent to fishery, particularly in pearl development, and the remainder to husbandry and mining. (13)
