TPS at Waduk Cincin Overloaded, North Jakarta Environmental Agency Promises Resolution within Two Weeks

The North Jakarta Environmental Agency (Sudin LH) has assured that it will handle the rubbish buildup at the temporary storage site (TPS) in Waduk Cincin, Papanggo, Tanjung Priok. Head of the Waste and Hazardous Waste Handling Section at Sudin LH North Jakarta, Ardiyanto, stated that his team will implement a handling programme to address the situation. “We will launch a blitz programme like at TPS Kencana, and for new rubbish, we will maintain it so there is no accumulation,” he told Kompas.com on Monday (6/4/2026). “Previously, it had reached zero, but the Bantargebang incident did have a significant impact,” he added. Additionally, rubbish from several other TPS has been diverted to Waduk Cincin. He revealed that a number of rubbish carts have been dumping there temporarily. “We plan to implement a programme like at TPS Kencana, and we will strengthen the SOP,” he said. He added that the handling is targeted to be completed within one to two weeks. “The target is actually two weeks, but hopefully it can be done in one week. Like at Kencana the other day, the target was three days, but it was finished in two days,” he said. It is known that the rubbish pile at TPS Waduk Cincin in Papanggo, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, is overflowing beyond the storage area. The types of rubbish visible are varied, from plastic, food waste, old mattresses, damaged cables, to cardboard. Besides piling up, the rubbish is also scattered to the grassy areas around Waduk Cincin. This condition has attracted dozens of goats that appear to be eating the rubbish at the location.
