Jakarta (ANTARA) - The TP PKK DKI Jakarta team, together with PAM Jaya, assisted in providing clean water to coastal residents by installing a water tank in RW 01, Pluit Subdistrict, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta, on Wednesday.

The Chair of the TP PKK DKI Jakarta, Hani Pramono Anung, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that this effort is part of the collaboration between TP PKK DKI Jakarta and PAM Jaya to strengthen clean water resilience for communities, particularly in coastal areas.

She appreciated the synergy with Daya Wanita PAM Jaya as a tangible manifestation of the presence of the regional government and regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) in fulfilling the basic needs of the community quickly and on target.

“We hope this initiative can continue and provide broader positive impacts on the welfare and health of residents,” she said.

The Operational Director of PAM Jaya, Syahrul Hasan, explained that the distribution of 2,000 water tank units will be carried out gradually throughout the DKI Jakarta area.

In the initial stage, assistance is prioritised for areas with specific geographical conditions and urgent water storage needs, such as Muara Angke in Pluit Subdistrict.

“This tank serves as an effective short-term solution because it can provide a stable water reserve for needs up to 24 hours,” he said.

Meanwhile, one resident of RT 06/RW 01, Neneng Maelani (45), admitted that she had to spend up to Rp50,000 per day to meet her clean water needs.

“We have to buy water from itinerant vendors who sell water to residents,” she said.

She had to spend around Rp30,000 to Rp50,000 every day to buy water from itinerant vendors. “This water is bought to meet daily needs,” she added.

However, on Wednesday, residents received a 300-litre water tank assistance from TP PKK DKI Jakarta and PAM Jaya. This greatly helps her and her family.

“Since the tank from PAM Jaya was installed, the water needs for eight people in her household are met. Neighbouring residents are also benefiting,” said Neneng.
