TP PKK Chairperson Urges Alor Students to Raise Health Awareness Through Free Health Checks

KOMPAS.com reports that Tri Tito Karnavian, the Chairperson of the Tim Penggerak Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (TP PKK), attended a Free Health Check (CKG) for students at SMAN 1 Kalabahi, Alor Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Thursday, 21 May 2026. The programme organised by TP PKK includes mental health screening, tuberculosis (TB) screening, and eye health checks as part of efforts to raise adolescent health awareness from an early age. In his address, Tri stated that health is one of the PKK movement’s main focus areas, as set out in its 10 Pokok PKK programmes. Accordingly, TP PKK continues to socialise a range of health programmes, including to younger generations. ‘One of the programmes (TP PKK) is health. Why does PKK undertake mental health, eye health, and TB checks? Because we believe that mental health is extremely important,’ he said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Friday, 22 May 2026. According to Tri, feeling down is a normal aspect of adolescence, but it must be recognised and managed properly to prevent it from developing into more serious issues. In addition to mental health, he highlighted the high incidence of TB in Indonesia that requires collective attention. Tri reminded that TB is an infectious disease that requires discipline during treatment so that management runs optimally. He added that health literacy needs to be instilled from an early age as it constitutes a crucial foundation for the younger generation to achieve their dreams and develop their potential. He also encouraged students to harness technological developments to enhance their personal abilities. Besides continuing their studies, students are expected to sharpen skills, including proficiency in English, to compete globally. At the event, Tri also inaugurated the Alor Regency TB Youth Ambassador. The inauguration was marked by the conferral of sashes to several students who are expected to become health-education agents within schools and the community. In addition, Tri symbolically handed over equipment to support the School Health Programme (UKS) to Lidya Siawan Winaryo, Chairperson of TP PKK Alor Regency. Also in attendance were Niken Tomsi, Expert Staff in Family Economic Resilience, TP PKK Central Management, Vera Johni Asadoma, Expert Staff of TP PKK Province of NTT, Lidya Siawan Winaryo, Chairperson of TP PKK Alor Regency, teachers and students of SMAN 1 Kalabahi, and other related parties.
