TP PKK Chair Urges South Sulawesi Residents to Boost Child Immunisation for a Healthy Generation
The Chair of the Tim Penggerak Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (TP PKK), who also serves as Chair of the Tim Pembina Pos Pelayanan Terpadu (TP Posyandu), Tri Tito Karnavian, has urged the people of South Sulawesi province to increase child immunisation coverage to realise a healthy Indonesian generation.
According to Tri, parents have a duty to ensure their children receive complete immunisation. The government is currently monitoring zero-dose immunisation cases, where children have not received any immunisation at all.
Nevertheless, immunisation is a child’s right that must be fulfilled through collaboration between the government and parents.
Tri assessed that the high immunisation achievements in South Sulawesi are inseparable from the active role of regional leaders in encouraging involvement from all levels.
This statement was delivered by Tri at the Monitoring and Evaluation of Zero-Dose Immunisation in South Sulawesi Province at the Gowa Regent’s Official Residence on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
She explained that although immunisation is often seen as a routine for families with children, in practice, there are still families that have not carried it out.
Therefore, government interventions through collaboration with community health centres, posyandu, and TP PKK are deemed important to continue increasing immunisation coverage.
The wife of the Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, also appreciated the data collection approach implemented by the Gowa Regency Government.
Furthermore, Tri emphasised that immunisation is the initial step in shaping a healthy future generation.
Immunisation plays a crucial role in protecting children, especially toddlers, from various disease risks in the future and is part of effective prevention efforts.
Tri also highlighted the importance of family parenting patterns. According to her, the existence of children who have not been immunised is not detached from improper parenting patterns.
“Why is immunisation not carried out by parents? There must be a wrong parenting pattern. This parenting pattern does not only cover health but also other aspects,” she stated.
She also appreciated the best practices in South Sulawesi, which she believes can serve as examples for other regions.
“I congratulate the TP PKK of South Sulawesi, which collaborated with Gowa Regency, for conducting this activity with achievements of more than 80 percent, in line with the targets from the Ministry of Health,” said Tri.
Tri viewed this step as very good and supportive of the national TP PKK’s promotion in helping achieve national immunisation targets.
For information, the event was also attended by the Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, the Chair of the Provincial TP PKK, Naoemi Octarina Sudirman, the Regent of Gowa, Sitti Husniah Talenrang, as well as officials from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum of South Sulawesi Province and Gowa Regency.
