Chair of the Tim Penggerak Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (TP PKK) Tri Tito Karnavian has urged the protection of women and children from violence. Tri conveyed this during her attendance at the PKK Cadre Meeting in Belu Regency at the Gedung Wanita Betelalenok, Belu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Thursday (16/4). Tri stated that both domestic violence (KDRT) or sexual harassment are generally committed by superior parties, in this case men or heads of households. “The rates of domestic violence or harassment against women and exploitation of children are extraordinary,” said Tri in a written statement. According to her, such cases occur not only in Indonesia but also in other countries. Therefore, she invited everyone to jointly prevent them. Tri encouraged parents to educate boys not to feel superior. Both men and women are equal in the eyes of the law and should not be taught to feel superior. In addition, girls should not be pressured to accept conditions but should be educated to dare to say no to things that violate their boundaries. Girls need to be encouraged to fight for their rights and realise that they have equal opportunities in various aspects of life. The law has guaranteed those rights and obligations. According to her, good education for children will support the Indonesia Emas 2045 programme. Children who are currently in school, especially at junior and senior high school levels, will become the leaders expected to advance the region. Moreover, Belu Regency is Indonesia’s frontline bordering Timor Leste. “I am also obliged to be present here, because giving encouragement to all PKK cadres to work hard, making Belu Regency prepare our children as human resources that will continue the continuity of the Republic of Indonesia, especially at the border,” said Tri. Tri also praised the local specialty kemiri oil from Belu. According to her, kemiri is part of essential oils that have the potential to become export products. If developed, this product has great economic potential, while also being able to mobilise housewives in Belu Regency. She hopes the TP PKK Chair of Belu can request ministries to help develop this leading local product. Tri conveyed this during her attendance at the Training on Making and Managing Kunir Oil at the Regent’s official residence in Belu, NTT, on Thursday (16/4/2026). This training is conducted to support family economic resilience. The central government hopes that the welfare of the people in Belu Regency can improve through the development of various regional potentials it possesses. “One source of family economy is making oil oneself. If sold by mothers on TikTok, using TikTok but don’t end up rolling on the street, okay. This can be a potential to get orders from all over Indonesia,” she said. Another uniqueness in the management of kemiri oil in Belu Regency is the production process that is still done organically without chemical mixtures. In this way, kemiri oil has various benefits, especially for hair care, such as making hair healthier, more fertile, and shiny. Tri continued that by producing kemiri oil, the community has the opportunity to earn income. Although not immediately large, this is believed to be able to stimulate the economy through the development of leading regional products in Belu Regency.
