TP PKK Chair Tri Tito Karnavian Praises Belu's Flagship Local Product, Kemiri Oil

Belu, VIVA – Chair of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement (TP PKK) Tri Tito Karnavian has praised the flagship local product of kemiri oil from Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Tri explained that Belu Regency is known for its abundant kemiri production. This is noteworthy because kemiri is part of essential oils with potential to become an export product. If developed, this product holds significant economic potential while also empowering housewives in Belu Regency.

“There may be enhancements from relevant agencies. Hopefully, the Chair [of TP PKK Belu Regency] can request support from ministries on how this can be developed into a leading local product and a flagship PKK product,” Tri stated during the Training on Kemiri Oil Production and Management at the Belu Regent’s Official Residence, NTT, on Thursday, 16 April 2026.

Tri revealed that this training is conducted to support family economic resilience. The central government hopes that public welfare in Belu Regency can improve through the development of various local potentials.

“One source of family income is making oil oneself. If sold by housewives on TikTok, using TikTok but without rolling on the streets. This could generate orders from across Indonesia,” she clarified.

She noted that another unique aspect of kemiri oil management in Belu Regency is its production process, which remains organic without chemical additives. In this way, kemiri oil offers various benefits, particularly for hair care, such as making hair healthier, more fertile, and shiny.

“Hopefully, it becomes a flagship for Belu Regency, where all communities have the opportunity to produce kemiri oil. Because kemiri is easily obtained, no need to tire oneself buying from outside the regency,” she said.

Tri continued that by producing kemiri oil, the community has opportunities to earn income. Although not immediately substantial, this is believed to stimulate the economy through the development of flagship local products in Belu Regency.

“May this activity be beneficial and not only carried out by the Chair [of TP PKK Belu Regency] alone, but also to our children, neighbours, and our environment,” she concluded.
