Chair of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Tri Tito Karnavian, praised the leading local product of kemiri oil from Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Tri explained that Belu Regency is known for its abundant kemiri production. This is appealing because kemiri is part of essential oils with potential to become an export product. If developed, this product holds significant economic potential while also being able to mobilise housewives in Belu Regency. “There might be enhancements from the relevant agencies. Hopefully, the Chair of TP PKK in Belu Regency can request support from ministries on how this can be developed and become a flagship local product of PKK,” said Tri in a written statement on Sunday (19/4/2026). She conveyed this during the Training on Making and Managing Kunir Oil at the Regent’s Official Residence (Rujab) in Belu, NTT, on Thursday (16/4). Tri revealed that this training is conducted to support family economic resilience. The central government hopes that the welfare of the people in Belu Regency can improve through the development of various regional potentials it possesses. “One source of family income is making oil at home. If sold, housewives can use TikTok, but don’t roll around in the streets,” Tri explained. “This has the potential to receive orders from all over Indonesia,” she added. Tri mentioned another uniqueness in the management of kemiri oil in Belu Regency, which is that the production process is still done organically without chemical additives. In this way, kemiri oil has various benefits, especially for hair care, such as making hair healthier, more fertile, and shiny. “Hopefully, it will also become a flagship for Belu Regency, where all people have the opportunity to produce kemiri oil,” said Tri. “Because kemiri is easily obtained, no need to tire oneself buying from outside the regency,” she continued. Tri went on to say that by producing kemiri oil, the community has opportunities to earn income. Although not immediately large, this is believed to be able to drive the economy through the development of leading regional products in Belu Regency. “May this activity be beneficial and not only carried out by the Chair of TP PKK in Belu Regency alone, but also to our children, neighbours, and our environment,” she concluded.
