Toyota Veloz Hybrid Starts Appearing, What About the Fate of Used Veloz?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The arrival of the hybrid variant in the Low MPV segment, such as the Toyota Veloz, is starting to spark concerns regarding the resale value of its conventional models in the used car market.

Andi, from the Jordy Motor used car showroom at MGK Kemayoran, stated that the impact of the Veloz Hybrid’s presence has so far been deemed not very significant.

Andi explained that the influence on the used Veloz market is indeed starting to be felt, but it remains very limited. This is due to the uneven availability of Veloz hybrid units in the market.

He elaborated that the trend of declining prices or interest in used Veloz is unavoidable, especially with the emergence of new, more efficient hybrid technology.

“There will definitely be an impact on the decline, especially after models like the Veloz (hybrid) appear, and soon the Xpander Hybrid might follow. This year, it’s starting to be felt, but the influence is not yet significant,” he said.

Furthermore, Andi assessed that the biggest impact will only be visible once Veloz hybrid units are widely available and begin entering the used car market.

“Unless the new model is truly available and used units start appearing in the market, then the impact will be quite noticeable,” he said.

“For now, in my opinion, it’s still thin, not very visible because the used units aren’t there yet,” he added.

This situation will automatically lead to the emergence of used units and affect market prices.

“So, we have to wait until the car starts being widely used and circulating on the roads. Once that happens, the influence will definitely start to be felt because used units will begin to appear,” said Andi.
