Toyota Unveils Three New Models at GIIAS 2026, Showcasing Multi-Pathway Strategy
Toyota is strengthening its presence in the Indonesian automotive market by introducing three new models at the GIIAS 2026 auto show, reflecting its multi-pathway strategy towards sustainable mobility. The company’s President Director, Takuya Yokohama, stated that the approach is based on the belief that consumer needs for eco-friendly vehicles cannot be met by a single technology, hence the simultaneous offering of petrol, hybrid, and battery electric vehicles (BEV).
One of the highlights is the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid EV, a premium SUV that combines a V35A-FTS 3,500 cc V6 twin-turbo petrol engine with an electric motor. The petrol engine delivers 305 kW of power and 650 Nm of torque, while the electric motor contributes an additional 36 kW and 250 Nm, resulting in a combined system output of 341 kW and 790 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Land Cruiser ever marketed. The vehicle is also equipped with an Auto Multi Terrain Select feature to optimise traction on various road surfaces.
Toyota also introduced the Land Cruiser FJ, a more compact, five-seater adventure SUV inspired by the first-generation Land Cruiser. It is powered by a 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 122 kW and 245 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Its off-road capability is enhanced by a part-time four-wheel-drive system and a rear differential lock.
In the battery electric vehicle segment, the company launched the bZ4X Touring BEV. This all-wheel-drive model features two electric motors, one on each axle, with each eAxle producing 167 kW and 268.6 Nm of torque, for a total system output of 280 kW. It uses a 74.69 kWh lithium-ion battery that supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW, allowing a charge from low to 80% in approximately 28 minutes. The vehicle has an estimated range of 462 to 487 kilometres on a full charge, depending on driving conditions.
Toyota reported that demand for its electrified vehicles in Indonesia has doubled compared to the same period last year, with hybrid models like the Veloz Hybrid being the main contributors. The company views this as a sign that hybrid technology is gaining market acceptance by offering fuel efficiency without requiring changes to driving habits or dependence on charging infrastructure.
