Toyota to recall Lexus cars in China

BEIJING: Toyota Motor Corp has announced that it will recall
some 1,500 Lexus luxury sedans in China due to faulty
transmissions, state press reported Saturday.

The company has applied with the government to begin the
recall on July 15 and will replace the faulty transmission with
new parts for free, the China Daily said.

The cars to be recalled will be Lexus models LS430 sedans
produced in Japan from July 29, 2003 and January 14, 2003, the
report, citing company officials in China, said. The company has
so far received no complaints from car owners in China over the
problem, it added. -- AFP
