Toyota sells 11,122 vehicles

JAKARTA (JP): PT Toyota Astra Motor sold 11,122 Toyota
vehicles in the domestic market last September, compared to 5,985
vehicles in September 1996.

The company, a venture between Japan's Toyota Motors Corp and
Indonesia's PT Astra International, said yesterday that most
sales came from the Kijang van, followed by the Dyna light truck
and Corolla sedan.

It sold 9,413 Kijang vans last September (compared to 4,735 in
September 1996), 882 Dyna trucks (745), 485 Corollas (261); 187
Land Cruiser recreational vehicles (46), 119 Starlet hatchbacks
(45), 79 Corona sedans (127) and 17 Crown sedans (26).

The company also exported 162 Kijang vans to Brunei, Papua New
Guinea and Fiji. (rid)
