Jakarta (ANTARA) - Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) believes that the automotive culture in Indonesia has a strong character and is developing through communities and the creativity of car enthusiasts.

Marketing Director of PT TAM, Hiroyuki Oide, said in Jakarta on Saturday that this could be seen from the enthusiasm of automotive communities in modifying and maintaining vehicles, including classic Toyota models which are still used today.

“I truly feel that Indonesian automotive culture is very rich, unique, and full of stories,” said Hiroyuki.

He cited the example of the Toyota Starlet, which was marketed from the 1970s to 1999, and can still be found in Indonesia in good condition with various personal modifications.

The Toyota GR Car Meet 2026 event for the community in Jakarta featured more than 400 Toyota cars from various modification concepts such as racing, stance, off-road, campervan, to Japanese Domestic Market (JDM).

Hiroyuki said that this activity is part of an effort to strengthen relationships with communities and also introduce an inclusive automotive culture to young generations.
