Jakarta (ANTARA) - Toyota has officially launched the plug-in hybrid and GR Sport versions of the RAV4 in the Japanese automotive market, featuring a range of advanced technologies capable of supplying household electricity for up to seven days.

CarsCoops reported on Friday that Toyota has dubbed the feature “Power Supply Time Priority Mode.”

According to Toyota, this feature coordinates the battery and combustion engine to provide electricity to a home for up to seven days, or 6.5 days in standard “Power Supply Mode,” at a constant 400W load.

To achieve maximum duration, the vehicle must be running with a fully charged battery and a full fuel tank in order to supply energy to the home.

The RAV4 PHEV can charge owners’ devices from an internal socket located in the boot area. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a power connector linked to the charging port, converting it into an external 100V socket providing up to 1,500W of power.

To demonstrate these capabilities, Toyota conducted live demonstrations across various scenarios, from camping and cooking to hosting live music events and conducting remote podcast broadcasts, all powered directly by the plug-in hybrid system.

Toyota hopes this feature will serve as a catalyst to attract prospective buyers seeking a vehicle with exceptionally high versatility.

In terms of exterior and interior design, the RAV4 in Japan does not differ from versions available in other countries. Consumers can choose between the standard Z trim and the more aggressive GR Sport trim, whilst the Adventure grade remains available only in the hybrid version in Japan.

For the Z variant, the vehicle features glossy black accents to distinguish the PHEV from the standard hybrid, whilst the GR Sport adds unique bumpers, bespoke wheels, red brake callipers, and a rear spoiler. The GR enhancements extend beyond mere cosmetics.

Inside, the layout mirrors the RAV4 available in other markets, featuring a 12.9-inch infotainment screen running Toyota’s Arene software platform, paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a colour head-up display.

Additional equipment includes an “Electro Shiftmatic” transmission lever, wireless charging, a hands-free tailgate, heated and ventilated seats, and an optional panoramic sunroof.

The RAV4’s plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a 2.5-litre engine with two electric motors and a 22.7 kWh battery pack. The combined output reaches 324 hp (242 kW / 329 PS).
