Toyota Prepares to Build Bioethanol Plant in Lampung This Year
Jakarta: Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu has revealed plans for the construction of a bioethanol plant by the Toyota Group, set to begin in the third quarter of this year. The plant’s development is intended to support the advancement of renewable energy in Indonesia.
“This programme has actually been underway since last year, but we have kept it under wraps. In this case, Toyota Tsusho will be designated as the partner, along with one entity from Japan focused on research and development for bioethanol,” stated Todotua, as quoted from Zona Bisnis, Metro TV, Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
Following the investment agreement with the Toyota Group, Todotua has designated Lampung as the location for the bioethanol plant. Through this investment, Indonesia’s renewable fuel production capacity is targeted to increase by around 60,000 kilolitres per year.
