Toyota Land Cruiser Seized as Evidence in Kuansing Regent Bribery Case Arrives at KPK
A Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR-S, which serves as evidence in a bribery case involving the filling of regional government positions, has arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) storage facility in Cawang, East Jakarta. The vehicle was seized in connection with a case that has ensnared Kuansing Regent for the 2025-2030 period, Suhardiman Amby. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the vehicle was brought from Pematang Siantar using a towing service and arrived on Wednesday morning. The luxury car was allegedly hidden by the regent’s associates during the KPK’s hand-arrest operation conducted on 29-30 June 2026. The Land Cruiser is believed to be an instrument of bribery from Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain to Suhardiman. Budi explained that all seized evidence and confiscated assets under the KPK’s management are professionally maintained at the storage facility. Maintenance is carried out periodically, including proper storage, cleaning, engine warm-ups, and component checks to preserve physical condition and economic value. This procedure aims to prevent asset depreciation due to technical damage or physical decline. By maintaining the quality of the assets, their valuation can be upheld, ensuring that if the court later decides to auction or utilise them according to legal provisions, they will still provide optimal added value for the state and society. In addition to Suhardiman and Zulkarnain, the KPK is also prosecuting Ardiles, a director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, in this alleged job auction bribery case. Suhardiman, as the recipient, is charged under Article 12 letter a or b and/or Article 12 B of the Corruption Eradication Law. Meanwhile, Zulkarnain and Ardiles, as the givers, are charged under Article 605 or Article 606 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the Criminal Code. As part of the investigation, the KPK conducted searches in Kuansing Regency and Pekanbaru City from 4 to 6 July 2026, including the private and official residences of the suspects, the home of the Head of the Plantation Office, and an expedition office in Pekanbaru. The searches yielded documents and electronic evidence that strengthened the case.
