Jakarta (ANTARA) - Toyota-Astra Motor involved 21 automotive communities in the Toyota GR Car Meet 2026 event held at the Parkir Timur Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, on Saturday. The event, which was attended by more than 400 Toyota cars, served as a gathering for Toyota users from various modification styles and vehicle usage preferences. Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Hiroyuki Oide, said that the event was held to strengthen Toyota’s relationship with automotive communities in Indonesia. “This event is a platform to share passion and excitement with fellow Toyota car enthusiasts, as well as representing Toyota’s support for car culture and the creative automotive industry in Indonesia,” said Hiroyuki Oide. Toyota presented various modified models, ranging from racing cars, daily use vehicles, off-road vehicles, stance cars, campervans, to the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) line. In addition to the Toyota Owners Club (TOC), the event also involved Toyota Nation, Toyota GAZOO Racing Indonesia, and several collaborators from the automotive industry. Toyota stated that the GAZOO Racing or GR concept is now not only focused on motorsport but is also directed to be part of the lifestyle of Toyota vehicle users. At the event, Toyota introduced four main pillars of GR, namely motorsport, product, community, and communication, which are claimed to be the basis for developing community and product activities. According to Toyota, this approach is carried out through the “GR Drive for Every Lifestyle” initiative to reach vehicle users with different needs and characteristics. On the same occasion, Marketing Director of PT TAM, Bansar Maduma, said that the automotive culture in Indonesia has developed from communities which have been a space for gathering and sharing stories among car enthusiasts. He added that the activity was also aimed at introducing a positive and collaborative automotive culture to the wider community, especially the younger generation of automotive enthusiasts. “Today, we want to invite all visitors to not only see but also experience and be part of the journey,” said Bansar.
